What is Chinese Medicine?
Rooted in over 2,000 years of observation and practice, Chinese medicine is a holistic system that views the body, mind, and spirit as deeply interconnected. Rather than simply treating symptoms, it works to restore harmony within the entire body by supporting the flow of qi (vital energy), balancing organ systems, and addressing the root cause of illness. Using tools like acupuncture, herbal medicine, gua sha, cupping, nutrition, and lifestyle guidance, Chinese medicine helps awaken the body’s natural ability to heal. Whether you’re navigating stress, hormonal imbalances, chronic conditions, pain, or simply seeking a deeper connection with your health — this medicine meets you where you are and supports you in becoming more whole.
SERVICES
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a key component of Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to restore balance, stimulate the body’s natural healing responses, and promote the smooth flow of qi (vital energy).
Moxibustion Therapy
Moxibustion or “Moxa” is the the warming and nourishing properties of dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris/Ai Ye) to stimulate acupuncture points, dispel cold, move stagnation, and strengthen the body’s yang energy, often used alongside acupuncture for deeper therapeutic effects.
Chinese Herbal Therapy
Utilizes combinations of plant, mineral, and sometimes animal substances that are custom-formulated into teas, powders, pills, or tinctures to target underlying imbalances and support the body’s unique constitution. Chinese medicine nutrition is a therapeutic approach to food that considers the energetic properties of ingredients—such as warming or cooling, moistening or drying—and tailors dietary recommendations to support each individual’s health, season, and pattern diagnosis, with the goal of promoting long-term harmony and vitality.
Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage)
Tui Na (pronounced “twee-nah”) is a hands-on therapy that blends acupressure, massage, and bodywork to restore the flow of qi and blood through the body. It works on the same meridian system as acupuncture and is especially helpful for pain relief, muscular tension, digestive issues, and emotional stress. Techniques may include rhythmic kneading, rolling, pressing, and stretching to open blockages and encourage healing from within.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping involves placing suction cups on the skin to promote circulation, draw out stagnation, and support the body’s detoxification processes. It’s often used for muscle tension, respiratory issues, menstrual pain, and fatigue. Patients often notice circular marks on the skin afterward — this is a normal and temporary response indicating that stuck blood and toxins are being released from the tissues.
Gua Sha (Scraping Therapy)
Gua sha uses a smooth-edged tool to gently “scrape” along the skin, typically on the neck, shoulders, back, or face. This promotes lymphatic drainage, boosts circulation, reduces inflammation, and helps release deep-seated tension or emotional stress. Facial gua sha is especially loved for its ability to lift, tone, and refresh the skin naturally — leaving you looking and feeling more radiant and relaxed.
